Pontiac Lake Recreation Area

Pontiac Lake Recreation Area, with 3,745 acres of a mixture of marshes, ponds, heavy forests, old farm fields, river bottom and lakes that support a variety of animals and excellent hunting. Designated trails throughout the recreation area are available for horseback riding, hiking and mountain biking. Due to a planned park enhancement project to upgrade the electrical system, Pontiac Lake Recreation Area’s modern campground is temporarily closed through at least July 9, 2023. The Seven Lakes and Pontiac Lake sanitation stations are closed to non-campers. The septic system cannot handle additional pressure and could fail if capacity is overloaded. The nearest sanitation stations are located at Metamora-Hadley (expect long lines on Sundays), Holly and Proud Lake recreation areas. Campers must present a camping permit that expired within the last 24 hours or the $10 sanitation station use fee will be applied. (updated 2/12/23)
